Most packs use 500D or 1000D Cordura. It's fine. It works. It wears out.
The Basecamp uses 1680D sailcloth nylon — the same material used in commercial rigging and marine sails.
It's built to handle sustained load, abrasion, and UV exposure in conditions that would shred standard pack fabric in a season.
It costs us 3x more than the industry standard. We use it anyway.
The result: a pack body that's abrasion-resistant, field-repairable, and built to age the way good gear should — slowly, and with character.

The framesheet is thermoformed HDPE, tuned for 30–40 lb carries. Not a generic insert. A load-specific structure that puts the weight where your body can handle it.
We didn't over-engineer this. We just didn't cut the corners most companies cut.
